Browser: a computer program that makes it possible for you to read information on the internet.

Search engine: a computer program that finds information on the internet by looking for words that you have typed in.

URL:  abbreviation for uniform resource locator: a website address.

Router: 
a piece of electronic equipment that connects computer networks to each other, and sends information between networks.

Switch: a piece of equipment in a network that receives electronic data and sends it to the right place.

Modem: an electronic device that allows one computer to send information to another through standard phone lines and therefore over long distances.


Server: a central computer from which other computers get information.

Analogue: using a system in which information, such as sound or images, is stored or sent in a continuously changing form, such as electrical signals, radio waves, or film.

Bit:

Byte: a unit of computer information, consisting of a group of (usually eight) bits.

Bandwidth: the amount of information that can be sent between computers, over a phone line, using radio signals, etc. in a particular amount of time.

Bluetoot: a technical system that allows people to exchange information and data using different types of electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones, printers, video cameras, etc. without using wires.
